Become a Curator.

Before a single audience member sees them, every film submitted to the Austin AI Film Festival passes through one room: the Curation Committee. This year, we’re opening a limited number of seats.

You’ll watch the submissions first, debate the work with fellow curators, and choose the finalists that screen in October. The films that define AAIFF 2026 will be the ones you picked — and you’ll be in the theater with a free VIP pass when they premiere.

This is the real work of a film festival. We’re looking for people who want to do it.

In Year 1, AAIFF drew 2,000+ film submissions and 300+ attendees. This is the room that decides what gets shown next.

→First look at everything. Every film submitted to AAIFF 2026, before the public — or anyone else — sees a frame.
→A free VIP pass to the festival — every screening and every panel, on us.
→A vote that matters. The October lineup isn’t picked by an algorithm or a sponsor. It’s picked by you.
→Your name in the credits. Curator credit on the AAIFF website and in the festival program, plus a direct line into the AI filmmaking community.

WHAT YOU’LL DO

01Watch submissions as they come in during the open call. You see the work before anyone else does.
02Score and debate the films with the rest of the committee.
03Talk with filmmakers about their work throughout the review process.
04Pick the finalists who screen at the festival in October.

THE COMMITMENT

Curation is real work, and the festival depends on it getting done. Before you sign on, pick a pace you can actually keep — through finalist selection in September and the festival itself on October 16 & 17.

There’s no wrong tier. There’s only the one you’ll honor.
